Arsène Wenger has picked up his 15th Manager of the Month Award for October, after winning all four league games in October and getting Arsenal in second position just behind Manchester City on goal difference.
Arsenal’s month began with a traditionally tough fixture against Manchester United. Although the expectation was that we were going to see a close game, it was all but that in the end, as Arsenal took care of business within just 20 minutes. Alexis Sanchez opened the score after just 6 minutes of play, followed up by a Mesut Özil goal just one minute later. Alexis Sanchez found his name on the scoresheet again after just 20 minutes of play, scoring Arsenal’s third goal.
The game against Watford was still goalless at half-time, but Wenger’s men got back out of the dressing room with fresh inspiration and motivation. Watford were unable to resist a revived Arsenal side where Alexis Sanchez, Olivier Giroud and Aaron Ramsey took care of the goals to end the game winning 3-0.
The game against Everton came just a few days after Arsenal battled their way to a 2-0 win over Bayern Munich. The Toffees were expected to try and profit from the midweek tiredness that Arsenal might have been suffering, but two goals by Laurent Koscielny and Olivier Giroud following eachother up quickly proved to be enough in the end as the game ended in 2-1.
The final game of the month saw the boys travel to Swansea. Swansea is also always a tough place to go. All goals came in the second half, as Olivier Giroud, Laurent Koscielny and Joel Campbell gave Arsenal a 3-0 win.
With four wins out of four, there was only one real contender for this award. Meanwhile, Leicester striker Jamie Vardy won the Player of the Month Award for October.
