Does game versus City on Monday hold the key to PL success?

Manchester City are just one point behind second-placed Arsenal and they’re set to lock horns next Monday night. Ahead of this important fixture, both parties are talking about the importance of this game and their intentions.

According to David Silva this is the time to show that Manchester City mean business, as he was quoted on Goal.com.

It would be very important to beat Arsenal – they are a direct rival.

It would be fantastic to beat them and start a good amount of games that we win.

Meanwhile Arsène Wenger played down the statements that this game could decide the league title race already, as he told The Daily Mirror.

No, we are in December, we are not fighting for the Premier League on Monday night.

In any case, a huge boost to Arsenal’s confidence was the news that star player Alexis Sánchez might be fit just in time to make the squad. He might not start from the off but could take place on the bench.

The last meeting with Manchester City ended in a 2-0 win away at the Etihad in January. The last home game against the Citizens finished in a 2-2 draw in September last year. With both teams in good form, it will be a highly anticipated game at the Emirates on Monday. With Arsenal grabbing eight points from a possible fifteen in their last five league games, and City getting seven points from their last five, both teams aren’t in top shape, but a win in this fixture versus a direct title opponent will do wonders fort he confidence in the winning camp.
