It is that time of year again. As always, football fans across the globe are speculating about which players should be signed, and of course, Arsenal are obviously a part of that. And let’s be honest, as football fans these are exciting periods and everyone loves to do some transfer talk.

This season so far, the team is performing very well, but it is a fact that once again that we are suffering from long-term injuries to important players. Jack Wilshere and Danny Welbeck haven’t played a game in ages, and Welbeck’s return has been pushed back once again yesterday. It would be mad not to at least consider bringing someone in. Piers Morgan was asked who he would sign for Arsenal if he was in charge and given a 200 million pound budget. He replied that Arsenal should sign Paul Pogba, Sergio Ramos and Robert Lewandowski. However, I don’t think Wenger can (and if he could he probably still wouldn’t) spend 200 million pounds on players. Especially not in January. These are a few names that are being linked with Arsenal, and I think they are a bit more realistic than Piers’ suggestions.

Javier Hernandez (Bayer Leverkusen)
Since leaving Manchester United, his form for Bayer Leverkusen has been very impressive. He has already scored eightteen goals this season in the Bundesliga and has been attracting several clubs in due course. As Arsenal are somewhat short in attacking options, and with Danny Welbeck’s return date not to be expected anytime soon, Hernandez would be a nice addition to Wenger’s strikeforce. It is believed that Wenger has already made an approach, but of course this has not been officially confirmed.

Marcelo Brozovic (Dinamo Zagreb, on loan at Internazionale)
The 23-year-old Croat has been very impressive for Internazionale this season and looks destined for greater things. Although several clubs are interested in his services, Arsenal seem to have a very good chance if they would make a move. Although Internazionale are interesting in making the loan deal permanent, Arsenal and Chelsea are just two of the list of clubs who are set to hijack that deal. Especially with our once again long list of injuries we could really do with an extra player in midfield. It is rumoured that Brozovic would be available for nearly twelve million pounds.

Granit Xhaka (Borussia Mönchengladbach)
This Swiss midfielder has been in impressive form for Borussia Mönchengladbach and has been attracting the interest of Bayern Munich as well. Arsenal scouts have been visiting the Bundesliga outfit on several occasions and where also present at the Etihad where the German side took on Manchester City in the Champions League. Bayern Munich are considering him for following up Xabi Alonso in the future, but Arsenal might just steal him away from under Bayern’s nose.
